Covid-19 is known to have first appeared in Wuhan, China in December 2019. In Indonesia, the President announced the first case on March 2, 2020. Since Covid-19 was declared a pandemic, Indonesia implemented Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) until May 2020. But after that, slowly economic and social activities began to reopen in June 2020. The Covid-19 pandemic not only caused health problems, but all aspects of life were affected, including economic aspects that had an impact on labor dynamics.
The Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) is an indicator that can be used to measure the level of labor supply that is not used or absorbed by the labor market. The TPT in August 2020 was 7.51 percent, meaning that out of 100 people in the workforce there are around 7 unemployed. Unlike the previous trend which tended to decline, the value of TPT in August 2020 increased by 1.32 points compared to August 2019.
