The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) together with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) @bssn_ri launched the BPS-CSIRT Team (BPS Cyber Incident Response Team). The formation of this team is in line with Presidential Regulation Number 95 of 2018 concerning the Electronic-Based Government System (SPBE) which mentions guaranteeing the integrity and availability of data and information.
The Head of BSSN, Hinsa Siburian in his speech said that from January to September 2021, there were more than one billion traffic anomalies/cyber attacks in Indonesia. “This is where CSIRT plays a role in providing recovery from cybersecurity incidents,” said Hinsa.
Head of BPS, Margo Yuwono, said that digital transformation at BPS is like two sides of a coin. On the one hand, it really helps business processes to be more effective and efficient. But on the other hand, the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data are very important to always be maintained. “I hope that BPS-CSIRT will be the spearhead in cybersecurity incident response and handling, which will be able to act quickly to anticipate, detect, mitigate, and assist recovery in the event of a cybersecurity attack.
After the launch, a discussion was held with Pratama Dahlian Persada, Chairman of CISSReC with moderator Dudi Barmana from BPS. Pratama said the CSIRT Team should not work when there has been a cyber attack on the organization, but should be able to understand the threat/attack in the initial phase, the reconnaissance phase. Pratama also said that the source of data security problems was lack of awareness. "Awareness must be owned by everyone, not only at the IT team level," he said.
Friends of Data can report security incidents via email at csirt@bps.go.id and the BPS helpdesk service halosis.bps.go.id. Information or complaints about cyber incidents to the BPS-CSIRT team can be checked through the website https://csirt.bps.go.id
