As one of 90 CPI cities in Indonesia, the city of Bukittinggi is tasked with collecting consumer price data on a regular basis.

Trade centers such as traditional markets, modern markets and outlets are the locations for collecting consumer price data.

The data obtained is used to calculate the value of the Consumer Price Index and inflation/deflation in the city of Bukittinggi. BPS releases CPI and inflation values at the beginning of each month.
